Grow your super as you shop

Financial wellnessSuperannuation

Did you know there’s a super easy way to top up your super? Our exclusive rewards program, SuperSuper, works with Australia’s top retailers to top up your super as you shop – and it costs you nothing extra. Here’s how it works.

What is SuperSuper?

SuperSuper is our exclusive rewards program, that tops up your Child Care Super account for you as you shop.

There are a lot of rewards programs out there, most of which give you a small percentage off your shop, which may not feel like much. With SuperSuper, instead of giving you the small discount, that percentage is put into your super account, where it eventually grows into something bigger. It’s a great solution in tough times – it takes nothing out of your pocket and in the long run, makes a big difference.

Is it worth it?

SuperSuper doesn’t cost you anything extra to join – it’s already a feature of your Child Care Super membership. And it doesn’t cost you anything at the checkout, either. Each time you shop, a percentage of your spend goes into your super. So, if you spend $100 at Target, which gives you a 5% reward, $5 will go straight into your super account.

SuperSuper has no effect on your employer contributions, it just adds to them. Even better, it keeps going even when you have no employer contributions – if you’re on parental leave, taking a career break, or are self-employed.

Over time these small percentages can really add up. Let’s look at a couple of examples.

Annie’s Christmas

Annie is getting ready for Christmas. It’s not cheap but it’s an important part of her year.

She uses her SuperSuper account to order some gifts: $50 at Sephora for her mum, $50 at Dymocks for her dad, an $85 pair of Lorna Jane leggings for her sister and a $65 shirt for her brother at The Iconic. For her boyfriend, she splurges on a pair of $120 sunglasses from The Sunglass Hut. Each purchase puts between 5-10% into her super.

She buys all her Christmas food from Woolworths for $350, with 4% of that added to her super.

Altogether, Annie spent $720 on Christmas and received $42 into her super.

Maya’s minibreak

Maya organised a weekend away with three friends.

She used her SuperSuper account to book everything, and her friends paid her back their share. She spent: $1,000 at AirBnB (5% reward), $500 on a spa sesh at Endota (6%), $120 with Uber Eats (2%) and $30 on movie snacks at Coles (4%).

The total came to $1,660, which added $84 to her super balance – and her friends then paid her back their share $1,245.

Where can I boost my super?

Lots of places. Here are just some of the retailers that will add a percentage to your super with every purchase.

Everyday basics: Coles, Woolworths, Target, Kmart, BigW

Online marketplaces: Amazon, eBay, Catch

Homewares: Ikea, Sheridan, Amart, Harvey Norman

Tech: Apple, JB Hi-Fi, the Good Guys

Motoring: Ampol, Supercheap Auto

Entertainment: Event, Village and BCC cinemas, Ticketek

Outdoor: BCF, macpac, Adrenaline, Kathmandu

Different retailers offer different percentages, and you’ll find a current full list of these inside your account portal when you sign up.

Great! How do I actually grab the cash?

Start by signing up. Log in to your Child Care Super account and navigate to Grow My Super > Rewards Program, then follow the instructions.

How you actually receive your rewards depends on the retailer. All purchases must be made via the SuperSuper portal to be eligible. That then takes you to the retail site, where you can either:

·      Download an eVoucher immediately after your purchase to use in store

·      Receive physical card vouchers in the mail to be used in store

·      Online shopping transfers the cash when you checkout

As long as you begin your purchase at the SuperSuper portal, your extra dollars will be credited to your Child Care Super account within 10 working days of the fund receiving payment of your accumulated rewards. You’ll be able to see your transactions in the SuperSuper portal to track how much you’ve earned.
